These days Bollywood is making lot of sports based films so naturally when Anurag Kashyap announced his next MUKKABAAZ, we presumed that this is yet another sports based film. However the director disagrees and at the trailer launch said that though boxing forms the background of the film, his film is essentially a love story at heart.

The film is a story of UP ka Mike Tyson Shravan who belongs to low caste (played by Vineet Singh) and harbours the dream of becoming a boxer. Shravan trains at gym owned by Bhagwan Das Mishra (Jimmy Shergill) who is an upper caste i.e. Brahmin.

Shravan falls in love with Sunaina who happens to be niece of Bhagwan Das. Shravan is not in good books of Bhagwan Das and disapproves of Shravan’s love for his niece. Now Shravan not only wants to win Sunaina but also show Bhagwan Das that he can win the National Boxing Championship.

In the midst of Shravan’s passion for boxing the trailer shows how hard it is for a sportsperson to fight the distractors and prove himself. It also raises questions like how unfortunately casteism, socio-economic conditions play a role in the making of sportsperson in India.

Also starring Ravi Kishan, MUKKABAAZ is set to release on January 12, 2018.
