The Supreme Court for the third time has turned down the plea to ban PADMAVATI.
Cautioning people holding public offices to make such statements till the film is cleared by CBFC. Times of India reports that the honorable Supreme Court today comprising of a bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra, and justices A M Khanvilkar and D Y Chandrachud said that the statements made by people holding responsible posts are unwarranted and would create disharmony, and is against principles of law.
The Supreme Court also dismissed a plea seeking criminal prosecution of producers and director of PADMAVATI and took the petitioner to task for filing a "frivolous petition".
The reprt further states that Sanjay Leela Bhansali assured the Supreme Court that he will not release PADMAVATI in other countries till the film is certified by CBFC.
Produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the movie is in constant storm owing to objection by fringe elements over speculated romance between Rajput warrior queen Padmini played by Deepika Padukone and Alauddin Khilji played by Ranveer Singh in the film.
