Director Amit V. Masurkar’s comedy-drama NEWTON starring Rajkummar Rao was India’s official entry to Oscars 2018 in the category of Best Foreign Language film.

Unfortunately, the film failed to make it to the top 9 list of films in that category. The shortlisted 9 films were selected from 92 titles.

NEWTON revolves around the story of a government clerk (played by Rajkummar) who tries to run a free and fair election in a conflict area in central India.

Rajkummar Rao won Asia Pacific Screen Award for Best Actor for his performance in the film. With the film out of Oscars race our hopes of winning an Oscar this year has dashed now.
