Sanjay Leela Bhansali is renowned for his lavish sets, larger than life canvas of his film and of course for presenting his heroines in the most beautiful way. Even with his latest offering PADMAVATI, the director is living up to his reputation.
The most awaited first song of PADMAVATI, ‘Ghoomar’ is here and it is grandness personified. The best part of this song is the way it has been choreographed. Rani Padmini portrayed by Deepika is seen dancing in a way that suits her stature, her persona. The elegance of a queen can be seen in her moves. In simpler terms Deepika is dancing like a queen and not like a heroine which is praiseworthy because these days who pays attention to such detailing. Hats off to choreographer Kruti Mahesh Midya and Jyothi D Tommaar who trained Deepika in’ Ghoomar’ dance moves.
Deepika’s Ghoomar dance and Shreya’s voice will stay with you long after you have watched this song. Shahid Kapoor unfortunately appears to be miss-fit in the way a Rajput King should actually appear. The lyrics of the song penned by A M Turaz are a mixture of Rajasthani and Hindi words.
Overall the song is soothing on ears and appealing to eyes all thanks to our Rani Padmini i.e Deepika Padukone’s effortless dance and also the Rajasthani folk feeling the number evokes.
