PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA team Kartik Aaryan, Sunny Singh, Nushrat Bharucha and Luv Ranjan is back with SONU KE TITU KI SWEETY that releases tomorrow. While PKP franchise highlighted guys’ perspective and how they are harassed by their girlfriends, but SONU KE TITU KI SWEETY, going on the same lines, is a war between bromance & romance, where Titu is going to marry a perfect woman named Sweety but Titu's best-friend Sonu doubts Sweety's character and tries to break the marriage while Sweety tries to do opposite..
Nushrat plays the role of ‘Sweety’ who works at an NGO and loves Titu, while his friend Sonu is upset that his best friend Titu is taken away by Sweety. This is Nushrat’s fourth film with actor Kartik Aaryan and director Luv Ranjan.
In conversation with Nushrat as she opens up on how she has found comfort in playing the protagonist in Luv Ranjan’s movies, Bollywood’s cliché format of depicting love stories and her wait for that one film which will redefine people’s perception about her, her chemistry with Kartik Aaryan and Sunny Singh and much more.
Here are the excerpts:
Tell us about your character Sweety?
I play the girl named Sweety, who meets the boy (Kartik Aryan) in an arranged marriage setup. My character comes across as a very well-spoken and well-mannered girl, who respects family values. She works in an NGO and is extremely fond of children. She has got very simplistic views about life and lifestyle. Just as when things start falling in place, there enters Kartik’s best friend who thinks that my behavior is not for real and I am more than what meets the eye.
How similar are you to Sweety in real life?
Not much. But yes some of the traits are real, in this film she is not a prop or isn’t bashed up like in PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA; Sweety has her own say and is not just a puppet for boys. Like I remember I would have to argue with Luv Sir when I was doing PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA, how can girls be like that? But thankfully SONU KE TITU KI SWEETY will change the perception of others.
How much does box office number matter to you?
It does as if people will like my work, and film does well, new horizons opens up.
So you think you will be stereotyped?
I don’t think I am getting typecast. I did LOVE SEX AUR DHOKA, but PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA (PKP) did so well that people only remember me as this angry girl, who possesses mean traits. I remember how tough it was for me to portray a mean girl; I would sit with pen and paper and note down lines, that oh girls are such haven’t come across a girl like I played in PKP. I get similar kind of roles. I often feel that perhaps the next film I get will change people’s perception of me. I am hoping that SONU KI TITU KI SWEETY will change the perception people have for me.
Tell us about your camaraderie with Kartik Aaryan and Sunny Singh?
We have this love and hate relationship mostly. It’s nice to work with him, when you know the person. I am mostly like a guy and bro amongst them. Working with Kartik and Sunny was fun and delightful.
While interviewing Luv sir he said PYAAR KA OUNCHNAMA 3 will be from girls’ perspective what do you have to say?
(Laughs) He has been telling it since when, and if that happens I would be happily doing it. So many fans would come up and hate me for what I did in PYAAR KA PUNCHANAMA 1 and 2. Thankfully in SONU KE TITU KI SWEETY people will see a character defined for Sweety as well.
What next after SONU KE TITU KI SWEETY?
I don’t know, I haven’t signed anything as of now.
