Ever since R Balki’s PADMAN was announced starring Akshay Kumar the curiosity surrounding the film has been high given the fact that film is based on Twinkle Khanna’s book The Legend Of Laxmi Prasad which is inspired from the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham. Also this is first time where Akshay Kumar and R Balki are teaming up

The makers of the film have finally released its trailer today and it’s quite interesting.  The trailer opens with voice over of legendary Amitabh Bachchan, who says, “America ke paas SUPERMAN hai, BATMAN hai, SPIDERMAN hai. Lekin India ke paas PADMAN hai.” And there enters our sanitary super hero Akshay Kumar.

But unlike other super heroes who have super powers like flying and jumping our PADMAN is quite different in that regard.

Akshay being the sanitary superhero is seen testing the sanitary pads made by him. Akshay is like any other common guy but he is sensitive to the sufferings of his wife, sisters and other women of the society and hence he is striving to make life easier for them.

While addressing few people he very beautifully explains in his tooti-footi English how big man- strong man doesn’t make the nation strong. It’s when mother-sisters and the women are strong only then a country can become strong.

Akshay is seen gifting his sisters sanitary pads while they are embarrassed to death even his own wife tells his that dying with infection is any day better for a woman than talking about it.

Eventually when no one helps him in his endeavour to make sanitary napkins then enters Sonam Kapoor who helps him realize his goals.

From the trailer it can be said that the film bears many similarities with Abhishek Saxena’s PHULLU starring Sharib Hashmi. However, while PHULLU was a fictional story, PADMAN is based on a real life character. PADMAN is all set to hit the silver screens on 26 January 2018.
