The three major releases of the week, Sanjay Dutt and Aditi Rao Hydari's BHOOMI, Shraddha Kapoor's HASEENA PARKAR and Rajkummar Rao's NEWTON, have embarked on an ordinary start (10-15 percent approx.), and with so many releases on the same day, there is no rocket science involved in guessing why!
The front runner in most parts of India turned out to be Dutt's BHOOMI, barring Mumbai- Maharashtra, where the topical HASEENA PARKAR led, expectedly!
However, as we had speculated in our last box-office report, the jack-in-the-box turned out to be the hat ke and realistic, NEWTON, at the select metro multiplexes, and given the Oscar nomination, the film is likely to succeed at the turnstile, more so due to the most positive reviews and word-of-mouth, from amongst the three above mentioned movies.
Meanwhile, last week's Kangana Ranaut starrer, SIMRAN and Farhan Akhtar's LUCKNOW CENTRAL, have both disappointed netting 14 and 12 crore (to be validated) respectively, during the opening week from India.
As things stand, LUCKNOW CENTRAL is likely to go past SIMRAN during the second week, though it won't turn out to be manna from heaven for the Farhan Akhtar venture!
