The pall of gloom that had descended at the box-office with most of the films falling like nine pins at the ticket window (post the blockbuster Diwali hit GOLMAAL RETURNS), has totally engulfed the Hindi film industry which is going though pretty rough times. Yes, even SECRET SUPERSTAR brought in decent profits, based on the worldwide run, but not a true blue hit as such.
Even though it is generally seen that the market is dull after a big success, but this time, the wait for that elusive hit has crossed almost six-seven weeks. The only consolation was an average fare in Vidya Balan’s TUMHARI SULU and to some extent a coverage in Ratna Shah’s SHAADI MEIN ZAROOR AANA, both relying on non-theatrical rights.
So, all hopes now rest on Excel Entertainment’s FUKREY RETURNS, releasing this Friday, to stem the rot at the ticket window.
The Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Ali Fazal and Richa Chaddha starrer has certainly peaked at the right time, as it has all the pluses that makes for a hit film. It is a sequel to FUKREY which itself was a highly successful film. The trailers evoke laughter and have come in for a lot of appreciation, and the publicity too has been quite good. The music of the film is getting reasonably popular with time and all the aforementioned factors combined together make for a potential success, if not the hit, which the box-office is thirsting for.
