Remember the U.S.-based C3 Entertainment’s iconic Vaudeville comedy franchise THE THREE STOOGES that entertained and amused four generations since 1928, will now be churned into a sitcom and a movie franchise.
With a working title of THREE STOOGES BOLE TOH HUNGAMA HO GAYA, the Hindi language series is being developed by Mumbai-based Galani Entertainments. Galani Entertainments is linked to Vijay Galani Moviez/Film Folks, whose credits include Salman Khan starrers like VEER, SURYAVANSHI and Akshay, Kareena, Bipasha and Bobby Deol starrer AJNABEE.
Pratik Vijay Galani son of filmmaker Vijay Galani, is bringing the American laugh riot to India with a plan of 190-episode TV sitcom beginning by the year-end and a movie franchise thereafter showcasing the iconic characters of Larry Fine, Moe Howard and Curly Howard from the comedy series adapted into Indian set-ups.
The project is in collaboration with Hollywood producer Earl Benjamin.
“This is the perfect time to extend THE THREE STOOGES franchise in India to the 1.3 billion population,” said Earl Benjamin, president of C3. Television is the largest component of India’s media and entertainment industry, growing at 8.5% a year and valued at $9 billion.
“While the American hallmark is physical farce and slapstick, for us Indians the most appealing factor is the universal appeal of ‘boys’ comedy’. Casting is presently underway and the show, besides Hindi, will also feature puns in different languages.” said producer Pratik Vijay Galani of Galani Entertainments.
The casting is currently under way
