The coming Friday will witness a host of new releases, Excel Entertainment’s FUKREY RETURNS, erotic suspense thriller GAME OVER, romantic drama SALLU KI SHAADI, Arjun Mathur’s BRIJMOHAN AMAR RAHE and Sahil Rayyan’s GHALTI SIRF TUMHARI etc. Naturally, the front runner by a big margin will be FUKREY RETURNS, the sequel to the highly successful FUKREY and chances are that a couple of mentioned names may not even make it to the cinemas.
FIRANGI MOVIE POSTER
Meanwhile, last Friday’s two main releases, Kapil Sharma’s FIRANGI and Arbaaz-Sunny starrer TERA INTEZAR performed quite predictably. While FIRANGI netted 5-6 crore, TERA INTEZAR was way below the mark netting less than 2 crore, both during the opening weekend from India. It is but obvious that both the films have little or no chance at the box-office.
Checking out last week’s bunched releases, Sanjay Mishra’s KADVI HAWA, Devashish Makhija directed AJJI and Deepak Shivdasani’s JULIE 2 all the mentioned films faced outright rejection. The front runner (if one may say so!) was JULIE 2 which limped to around 2.60 crore during the opening week from India and that should make the fate of the other releases crystal clear!
Moving on to Vidya Balan’s TUMHARI SULU, the film maintained very well during the second week collecting 2.15 crore from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 30 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 8 lakhs from Surat, 8 lakhs from Baroda, 3.75 lakhs from Rajkot, 55 lakhs from Pune, 6.50 lakhs from Nasik, 5.50 lakhs from Goa, 2 lakhs from Belgaum, 1 crore from Delhi city, 22.50 lakhs from Noida, 7 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 7.15 lakhs from Kanpur, 13.25 lakhs from Lucknow , 1.50 lakhs from Agra, 2.50 lakhs from Allahabad, 6 lakhs from Dehradun, 25 lakhs from Gurgaon, 8.50 lakhs from Faridabad, 1.50 lakhs from Panipat, 8.15 lakhs from Chandigarh, 3.55 lakhs from Jalandhar, 1.50 lakhs from Patiala, 3 lakhs from Amritsar, 5.75 lakhs from Ludhiana, 1.25 lakhs from Bhatinda, 50 lakhs from Calcutta, 3.55 lakhs from Siliguri, 4 lakhs from Patna, 2 lakhs from Dhanbad, 3.75 lakhs from Ranchi, 3.55 lakhs from Bhubaneshwar, 4.15 lakhs from Guwahati, 10.50 lakhs from Nagpur, 6.75 lakhs from Raipur, 10 lakhs from Indore, 2.50 lakhs from Gwalior, 7.15 lakhs from Bhopal, 15 lakhs from Jaipur (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 2.50 lakhs from Jodhpur, 1.25 lakhs from Ajmer, 2.15 lakhs from Kota, 3.15 lakhs from Udaipur, 15 lakhs from Hyderabad, 5.75 lakhs from Aurangabad, 55 lakhs from Bangalore, 3 lakhs from Mangalore and 1.25 lakhs from Visakhapatnam. Adding another 9 crore, TUMHARI SULU has netted 28 crore in two weeks from India and will end up as an above average fare after accounting for the non-theatrical rights as well as the overseas.
Concluding on a somewhat happy mode, here is something that may just bring some cheer! Ratnaa Shah’s Rajkummar Rao starrer SHAADI MEIN ZAROOR AANA is on a steady run and has netted close to 13 crore in three weeks from India and may finally finish as an average fare in the end count, after accounting for all the rights.
