This Friday will not see the release of any Hindi venture as such. The Marathi industry does offer CHARANDAS CHOR and Hollywood has JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE (English & dubbed) . Needless to add that both the films will see some patronage from their target audience, though the weekend will once again belong to TIGER ZINDA HAI.
JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE
This week gone by saw the biggest opening of the year (for a Hindi film) and records did tumble like nine pins, as Yash Raj Films’ Ali Abbas Zafar directed Salman-Katrina starrer, TIGER ZINDA HAI, scorched the screens globally. After the biggest non-holiday opening day (34 crore), the film moved on to the biggest 3-day weekend netting 114 crore, beating Salman’s very own SULTAN by 9 crores! TZH continued it’s ferocious run, crossing the 150 crore by the end of the fourth day and is all set to cross the 200 crore mark in one week flat! The film is a super hit for sure and on course for a blockbuster status, hopefully, despite a huge 130 crore budget (raw).
TIGER ZINDA HAI is also on a great overseas prowl grossing $8.75m with £ 775,000 from UK and $2,600,000 (approx.) from the US, during the extended 4-day Christmas weekend (22-25 December).
