The premier new release of the week, Milan Luthria's Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi, Ileana D'Cruz and Vidyut Jammwal starrer BAADSHAHO embarked on a decent 30-35 percent start on an average, which given the present box-office scenario can be termed as decent. With the Eid-Ul-Azha festival on Saturday and the chartbusting Sufi legend late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's ‘Mere Rashke Qamar', refurbished with the aid of able inheritor, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, the film should see a jump in collections tomorrow. What it means is that BAADSHAHO will end up with quite a good weekend haul.
As per early estimates, the film has netted in the 10-11 crore band.
Having said that the film will have to contend with a formidable opponent in the form of the Ayushmann-Bhumi venture SHUBH MANGAL SAAVDHAN, already taking huge strides by the evening show.
Meanwhile, after the surprising success of BAREILLY KI BARFI (not for us, but for the trade), the lead man of SHUBH MANGAL SAAVDHAN, Ayushmaan consolidates his position as a bankable star, taking nothing away from his leading lady Bhumi Pednekar, who has a super hit under her belt already by way of TOILET - EK PREM KATHA. So, why do we say this? Please read on....
The second release of the week, the low budgeted SHUBH MANGAL SAAVDHAN has pleasantly surprised with a 15 percent start which picked up to 20 (in some rare cases 25 percent) by the latter shows, thanks to a positive word-of-mouth and reviews, and is likely to end up as a back-to-back success for Ayushmann and Bhumi, fingers crossed. The film has netted a fair 3 crore, during the opening day, as per early estimates.
