How many times have you come across a film that doesn’t have any conventional story-line but ends up conveying volumes? I know the answer is very rarely and one such film is Neeraj Ghaywan’s recently released short film JUICE.
Starring Shefali Shah, JUICE is a very beautiful film in terms of its narration. The beauty of the film lies in the fact that the director tells his story through actions of his characters and not at all relies on dialogues.
Every frame of this short film speaks volume in the term of what it wants to convey. Shefali is an underrated talent and this film shows what a gem of an actress she is. Manish Chowdhary as Shefali’s husband in the film is also commendable. In fact every character in this short film contributes equally to help this film deliver what it wants to convey.
The film questions the typical mentality of the society that as to why a woman has to make all the sacrifices post marriage in order to be called an ideal wife and be able to look after her family?
'Ardhangini' or better half is the term used for spouse, is not just a lovely term but has a very deep meaning attached to it but in reality are we really living up to its true meaning? The film raises this question apart from highlighting some other really relevant issues.
I being a movie-buff fell in love with this simple yet very meaningful film and hope it touches you the same way.
